This is my first post on this blog. It is our desire to make this blog as good as we can. Our focus is on camp experiences. We enjoy camping and we're guessing you do too. That's why you've come here after all. We've been camping all our lives. But we never ever get tired of it. It's simply such a great experience. There is something special about being in the great outdoors that is like nothing else. I'm not sure exactly how to describe it completely. But it is our aim to bring some of those experiences to this blog for you to share. I'm sure many of you could share similar experiences. So we all have something in common. It is my hope that this blog can bring us together in ways that just would never happen without the Internet.

I thought camping without the right gear was a crazy idea. But I've found that, over the years the less concerned I am about having the right the camping gear. In fact, as I've gotten older, my mind has moved away from the gear and more on the experience itself. I guess this is sort of a zen statement. But, it is more and more just about getting away. The experience itself is what is important to me and I could care less about what I bring with me in the woods. You're probably saying, no kidding. But I see many people caught up in the gear and getting distracted from the camping itself. Just get out there. Enjoy it.

Scouts On The Way

We were invited on a family camping weekend with my son's cub scout group. I nearly panicked since I had never been camping before, but everyone really wanted to go. Luckily, the scouts' invitation came with several ideas and a list of how to pack for the trip to learn more about camping. I checked out all the sites, plus a few more, and then went shopping. Between a couple camping gear websites and the big box discount store, I found everything from the lists. It was still all new to me, but when we arrived at the campground the more experienced parents were on hand to make sure that all the families had a good time. We did. Thanks to the scouts. Aside from sports and scout camps, there are as well spa camps, work out and training camps, weight loss camps and boot camps, in addition to summer camps are designed mainly for hobbies. If you're into camping, you don't think about this much. Is your view of camping the same as the next guy? I'm sure there is a ton of variation. I was wondering this today. For example, some people think of camping as packing up a car and going to a camp ground. Others view camping as an activity where they are not near anyone else for miles and miles. Little kids might think of camping as going in the back yard with a tent. Are each of these wrong? I think they are all cool. The bottom line is that they get you outside. Rain can kill the camping trip

We headed up to a campground about 45 minutes from home. It was a warm sunny day. Our troubles began when we all tried to put up the new tent. My husband was crabby and frustrated and the hot sun was beating down on us, making it difficult to get the darn thing up quickly. Once we did get it up, it looked like nice roomy family tent.

I switched on the flashlight to where else it was dripping, the whole tent seemed to be leaking. Everyone's sleeping bag and pillow was damp or soaking wet. I couldn't sleep the rest of the night.

It took us several days to get everything washed and put away. After everything dries apply seam sealer and also spray the tent with silicone spray to help it repel water. Eureaka! Seam sealer! We should have done that the first time. We should have been better prepared for rain. Sometimes you learn the hard way!

Going For A Dip

I find swimming as one of the best parts of camping. Especially in the summer, I just love a dip when I'm out in the woods. People have different objectives when they go camping But, for me, a dip in the water is more refreshing than The best swimming pool in the world. So, I say, no matter what the temperature is out there, you need to think about dropping your shorts and diving in the water. Even if you don't I'm sure you will enjoy your camping experience. You're in the woods. That's pretty good!

For those who want to enjoy camping and being outdoors, but do not want to run the risk of running into some lions, and tigers, and bears; a great alternative camping location for them to go to would be the beach.

Another great idea is to camp on the campsite of the beach. There are a lot of commercialized beaches that have special areas set aside for camping. The best thing to do would be to make reservations ahead of time, because sometimes the campsites get too crowded.

Camping on the beach for a lot of people is not so about the outdoors experience, or hunting for preys. For the most part, is it about enjoying the ambiance and majestic view of the ocean. This is a more tamed and romantic approach to camping.

What was your first tent

Remember your first tent? My children are having their first play time with tents. Sure, the tent may only be in the living room. But it is really cool to watch the interest in the little ones develop. I think this is something you should really encourage. Think of all the rewarding times you've had camping. Now think about all of those great things that lie ahead for your kids. Camping is universally fun, why not start your kids really early. So, I'll get off my soap box and back on point. The earlier you introduce your kids to camping the more likely that they will stick with the hobby.

Family Camping With The Gear

We have gone tent camping every year for a very long time with my sister and her family. We always camp in State Parks but mix and match where we go so that it's not aways the same. This allows us to see the state cheaply as State Parks are relatively inexpensive. We also try to pick a park near a store, so we can pick stuff up if we need it. On our first camping trip, our daughter was 8 months old. The following year, our second daughter was only 2 months old. This year, our third daughter will make her first trip at 3 months old. It's just as easy to mix formula outside as it is to mix it in a hotel room. Camping is a great way to get your kids outside and away from the everyday stuff that makes them less active. It shows kids (and husbands) that there are other things to do that don't require electricity - like hiking, fishing, swimming and just getting to know each other all over again. Happy camping!!
